We have always looked to have a bit of fun with our vehicle livery, particularly on our larger machines. Rubicon’s Graphics Manager Jonathan Millar designed this example, which has just arrived back in all its glory. It incorporates an image of medieval die we uncovered during excavations at the site of Caherduggan Castle in North Cork. As many of you will know, Rubicon’s name is derived from the small river which Caesar crossed in Northern Italy at the head of his troops, an act which put him in opposition to Rome. The van shows Caesar sitting on our Rubicon bridge, uttering the phrase that Suetonius attributed to him when he took the irreversible step of crossing the river in 49BC- ‘Iacta Alea Est’, also sometimes written as ‘Alea Iacta Est’: ‘the die is cast’.
