Early Edinburgh: New Work at Medieval Bridgend

We have previously charted our community archaeological work based around the possible medieval chapel site at Bridgend in Edinburgh (see here). Another phase of archaeological work is about to begin at the possible medieval chapel site at Bridgend in the south of Edinburgh in the coming months. Rubicon are delighted to hear the news that the community group and charity Bridgend Inspiring Growth have been successful in their Big Lottery funding bid and will be initiating a programme of building recording on the farmhouse and excavations in the surrounding area as part of their development of the site. Bridgend Inspiring Growth are refurbishing the farmhouse and building workshops adjacent to this which will provide a community facility comprising a Centre for Learning, Eating and Exercise, owned and run by the local community. You can find more information about the project at the Bridgend Inspiring Growth website here while you can access information about the history of the area and previous work at the site on the Greater Liberton Heritage website here.
