Rubicon on Medieval Dead, Yesterday Channel, 7PM

Tonight at 7pm on the Yesterday Channel (Sky Channel 537) the new episode of the Medieval Dead will air, hosted by Dr. Tim Sutherland of the University of York. The show, produced by Dragonhead Productions, is now in its third series, and tonight’s episode concentrates on the Gall Óglaigh, the famed Irish Gallowglass warriors who traced their origins to the Scottish Isles. We were delighted to be involved with this episode. Our contribution centred on research at the 1504 Knockdoe Battlefield in Co. Galway, an engagement particularly well-known for the involvement of Gallowglass. As part of the project we conducted a geophysical survey over some of the field- be sure and tune in tonight to see what we uncovered! It was great to be involved with the series- if you would like to get an idea of what is to come you can check out the series trailer here. If you would like to find out a bit more about Knockdoe, check out this piece on the battle written by Dr. John Jeremiah Cronin of Eneclann Ltd and Damian Shiels of Rubicon over at Robert Chapple’s blog by clicking here.
